Monero (XMR) is the best-known privacy coin: ring signatures, stealth addresses and confidential amounts hide who sent what to whom. That same feature led many regulated exchanges in Europe to delist it, so buying XMR with a card is harder than it used to be. Swapping another coin for it is the practical route.
1. Get a Monero wallet
Use a wallet where you control the keys. Popular choices are the official Monero GUI and CLI wallets, Feather Wallet on desktop, and Cake Wallet or Monerujo on mobile. Write down the seed phrase on paper and keep it offline.
2. Copy your receiving address
Standard addresses start with 4, subaddresses with 8; both are 95 characters long. Subaddresses are recommended — use a new one for each swap so your incoming payments can’t be linked to each other.
3. Choose what to swap from
- BTC to XMR — the most common route.
- LTC to XMR — Litecoin confirms faster and costs less to send.
- USDT to XMR — convenient if you hold dollars on TRON.
4. Send the deposit and wait
Send exactly the amount shown to the deposit address. After the confirmations of the coin you send, the XMR is sent to your Monero address. Monero itself needs 10 confirmations (about 20 minutes) before your wallet lets you spend it.
Swapping XMR back
The reverse works the same way. Because Monero transactions are private, keep your order ID and the transaction ID from your wallet — they are how support can find your deposit.
A note on screening
Privacy does not mean anything goes. Deposits we receive are screened against lists of stolen funds and sanctioned addresses, as described in our AML policy.
Questions people ask
Why did exchanges delist Monero?
Its privacy features make it hard for regulated exchanges to meet their transaction-monitoring obligations, so several removed it, especially in the EU.
How long does BTC to XMR take?
Typically 20–40 minutes: two Bitcoin confirmations for the deposit, then the Monero payout.
Can I send XMR to an exchange address?
Yes, any valid Monero address works. Use a subaddress where possible.
