No-KYC exchange vs KYC exchange vs DEX vs P2P

Four ways to turn one crypto into another. They differ in what you hand over, who holds your coins in the meantime and what it costs.

Short answer

For a quick cross-chain swap without an account, a no-KYC swap service such as noaml is the simplest: you keep custody and pay one 0.25% fee. A KYC exchange suits fiat on-ramps and active trading. A DEX is best for tokens on one chain when you already hold gas. P2P fits cash or bank payments.

When each option fits

No-KYC swap (noaml)

You hold crypto and want a different coin, often on another chain, quickly and without opening an account. Good for BTC → XMR, ETH → USDT on TRON, or moving to a cheaper network.

KYC exchange

You want to buy crypto with a bank card or bank transfer, trade actively with charts and order types, or need tax reports. You accept identity checks and custody.

DEX

Your tokens and the token you want are on the same chain, you have a wallet with the gas token, and you are comfortable with slippage and approvals.

P2P market

You want to pay or get paid in cash or by bank transfer directly with another person, and accept escrow, ratings and slower trades.

Is a no-KYC exchange safer than a KYC exchange?

It removes two specific risks: losing funds held in an account, and leaking stored ID documents. You still need to protect your own wallet and double-check addresses.

Why not just use a DEX?

DEXs are great on a single chain, but swapping native BTC to XMR or to USDT on TRON usually needs bridges, several steps and gas on each chain. A swap service does it in one order.

Are no-KYC swaps more expensive?

Not necessarily. Our 0.25% fee is included in the quote, while KYC exchanges often add withdrawal fees and DEXs add gas and slippage.
